A sour and tangy combo, this tonic perfect solution for cold or seasonal allergies. Versions of this recipe have been used in Balinese medicine for hundreds of years!
How to make:
1. Soak the ginger in water for 10 minutes. Scrub excess dirt off the root then chop the ginger into quarter sized pieces. Add 1 c of water and the ginger pieces to a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Heat up 1 L on the stove on medium heat. Drop in the tamarind block to make the tamarind concentrate. Add the ginger puree mixture and simmer on low for 20 minutes.
3. Let the mixture cool then strain through a fine-mesh sieve or milk bag.
4. Pour the juice into a pitcher. Add the maple syrup, lemon juice, and Nurture My Skin blend. Mix and enjoy!
I live in Northwest Arkansas - I specifically call out the region because it’s a distinct part of the state, unlike the rest. I love it here - it gives me the progressive nature of a larger city with the comfort of community. There’s still opportunity for growth and change, so I’m happy to be a resident who can play a part in its future.
